One month ago, I irritated two spinal nerves. The pain was unlike any I have experienced before. Thanks to Jess Cummings of Restore/Thrive Physical Therapy, the excruciating level of pain is behind me. Initially, I kept up with activities that didn’t cause pain, like bicycling to work, but found myself overwhelmed with fatigue. Sleep disruption from pain, moving with a weak lower leg and general discomfort are incredibly exhausting.
The antidote: rest. It’s a miracle cure, but requires incredible discipline. I must rest midday or I pay for it with pain at night. I must ration gardening and housekeeping activities. While I feel better after my twice daily physical therapy exercises, I break a sweat from the effort they takes. When I feel a spark of energy, ideas of how to spend it whirl though my mind. Now, I am developing a new habit; I remind myself to rest and use the energy for healing instead. The good news is that it works! As I surrender to rest, the pain lessens, I regain strength in my right leg and new movement patterns that protect my delicate spinal nerves come more naturally.
Thanks to you and your referrals, dear patients, my practice goes on without the effort of “shaking the bushes” for patients. I can tend to you, then go home and rest.
I have much to share with you when I am healed. Many patients are already benefiting from new ways to prevent and support the treatment of osteoporosis, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. I continue to train in Resonance Repatterning, a powerful way to shift low energy subconscious patterns that keep health, healing and the fullness of life out of reach. I hope to get back to offering group sessions when my energy permits.
